Tough book to get through, but somehow, I ended up liking it. McCarthy offers up a VERY bleak view of the end of the world -- worse than anything I could ever come up with in my head -- yet he manages to give readers just enough hope to keep going. And I really do mean just enough. There were times I thought about abandoning this book, but then the boy would smile or the man would find a can of food, and I would decide to read a few more pages. This isn't "beach reading," but definitely worth it.
