The Outcast by Sadie Jones
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is one of those books where the main character just totally self destructs. It's the story of Lewis Aldridge, a boy growing up in the London suburbs in the years following WWII, who can't come to grips with his mother's death and father's indifference. You really do feel for Lewis, but you also want to bang his head against the wall as he makes one poor choice after another. It's a good read, but I wouldn't necessarily run out to the bookstore for it!
