It's back! Finally! Let me start by saying the 2-hour season premiere of LOST did not disappoint. And neither did our lively lunchtime discussion of the show :) We spent most of the lunch hour talking about the Locke/Man in Black and Sayid/Jacob characters. Everyone seems to agree that there's something Biblical going on with a battle between good and evil, the island being a sort of purgatory for the passengers of Oceanic flight 815, and the final season having something to do with redemption, etc. The producers seem to be laying it on pretty thick... I mean, seriously, when they pulled Sayid out of the water, I almost screamed, "Christ figure!" at the television.
However, my mother brought up the possibility of the roles being reversed, where the Locke/Man in Black character is actually the good guy and the Sayid/Jacob character is the bad. This could be a possibility when you consider the LOST Supper promotional posters they released to advertise the new season (Sayid is in the Judas position):
There's also a TON going on with the whole time travel aspect of the show. I don't even know where to start with all of that, but I will include a few links that my fellow Losties have been emailing about today at work.
The first link is to an article by "The Watcher" who writes for the Chicago Tribune. She has some interesting theories, including this one:
"In the end, will the people on the island find out there's a different timeline? Will they have to choose which one they want to stay in? 'You have a choice,' Jacob told Ben last season. I wonder if that dilemma will be presented to the survivors -- stay on the island and/or stay in the island timeline, or go off and never have those island experiences. I'm betting that will become one of the main features of the final season -- pondering which choice might be better, and why, for various characters."

The second link is to an interview with the producers of LOST that may help explain a few things about the 2 "realities" and the differences between the original Oceanic flight 815 and the new Oceanic flight 815:

Finally, I just thought this link was kind of fun. It shows some of the different LOST "connections." Click and hold each boxed name to reveal:

I guess that's all for now. It was a very intense first episode and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of the season is as good!
